Self Portrait Suspended
This series depicts Taylor-Johnson elegantly caught between heaven and earth, between life and death, free but not quite, each pose adding a new act to the dance. It was achieved with the aid of a bondage expert. The ropes were later digitally removed, although they can be seen in Taylor-Johnson’s image Bound.
Bram Stoker’s Chair
Taylor-Johnson finds a way to show the fragile interior supports of exterior grace in this series. Named after the famous vampire who did not leave a shadow, these photographs highlight the division between public and private.
